"Pop" named NBA Coach of the Year, Spurs Vital Piece to 15 straight 50 win Seasons

Gregg Popovich named NBA Coach of the Year

+San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich has been named NBA Coach of the Year, the league announced Tuesday.

The +Phoenix Suns' Jeff Hornacek finished second in the voting, followed by Tom Thibodeau of the +Chicago Bulls.

Popovich, in his 18th season coaching the Spurs, led the team to an +NBA-best 62-20 record and No. 1 seed in the Western Conference playoffs.

He joins Don Nelson and Pat Riley as three-time winners, having previously won the award in 2011-12 and 2002-03.
